According to the officials, it is possible that there could be more violence during the inauguration and lives are at risk in DC.
Rental services provider, VRBO will not cancel any kind of reservation in DC during the week of inauguration despite the situation that happened because of Donald Trump. Unlike Airbnb, who has cancelled all kinds of reservations, VRBO has not done that at all. VRBO did say that it was trying to persuade the hosts to not book any kind of reservations if the hosts think that the guests might be violating their policies. Because of the riots that happened at the Capitol, the DC officials are saying and persuading people to stay in their homes and not come to the Capitol due to risks of more riots and violence as on 6th January riots, 6 people died and the officials do not need the same thing happening again, especially during the inauguration week. They have advised the people to participate in the inauguration virtually.
VRBO did not cancel any reservations but it also accepted and acknowledged what officials have stated and their suggestions. VRBO said that they want their hosts and guests to follow all the rules and regulations set up by the officials and they also do not want any kind of violence happening. They said that the safety of the hosts as well as the guests is important to them, therefore, if anyone is planning to travel, they should follow all the local government’s rules and regulations and also stay up-to-date on the latest news incase anything unfortunate might happen. Whilst Airbnb is not taking any risk during this time.
VRBO is making new bookings all the way till the 24th of January, and they will make sure that all the rules and regulations are followed by them and their hosts along with the guests, and if necessary steps are to be taken, they will work with the law enforcers to make sure it happens.
