Uber is one step closer to expanding its delivery service to new heights.
Uber, basically an online taxi has expanded itself to different genres, it started as an online taxi, and slowly became a cargo service, then it became a food delivery service as well. And now, after it is going to buy Drizly for a total of 1.1 billion dollars, it will be an alcohol delivery service as well. Although alcohol and driving don’t sit well together, but this is an entirely different thing, this does not mean that Uber will give alcohol to its passengers, it will only deliver alcohol now.
The alcohol delivery service Drizly will now be incorporated into the Uber Eats app, now people can order alcohol from Uber, the alcohol such as the beer, the wines, the liquor that Drizly usually delivers, will be available for Uber Eats users. Drizly will operate by itself as well through its application and will also operate on Uber Eats, according to Uber.
Drizly basically operates as Uber as well, it interconnects all the alcohol stores and delivers liquors, beers, and wines to the people who order it through them. Uber has expanded itself into other territories as well, such as in the health department with the Uber Health service as well as in the grocery delivery department. It has operated these services in Canada, Latin America so far, and will be expanding in other regions as well. Therefore, acquiring Drizly is something that fits into their current policy of expanding their delivery services.
Uber has left its other less profitable endeavors, and now is profiting through its delivery services. Because ever since the pandemic hit, people are not being allowed to socialize as it can spread the virus, therefore, focusing on the delivery aspect is so far a profitable aspect of Uber.
