The federal government had 645,000 vehicles in its fleet in 2019.
New US President Joe Biden’s newest orders are to replace the gas-powered vehicles in the federal government’s fleet and replace these vehicles with electric ones. Biden promised to the people of the United States in his campaign that the moment he gets in the office, he will replace the gas-powered vehicles with the electric ones, especially the ones that are made by the United States.
In his “Buy American” order, President Joe Biden said that the government has a huge fleet of vehicles that are not good for the environment, and that he is going to replace these vehicles with clean electric ones made by America, and by the people of the United States.
This news is perfect news for companies like Tesla, like Lordstown, and Rivian, who make electric automobiles. This is also good news for General Motors as well as Ford as they are in the process of investing in electric automobiles in the future.
In 2019, the federal government owned a total of 650,000 vehicles, and out of these vehicles, 173,000 were military ones, 245,000 were civilian ones, and office vehicles were 225,000. In 2019, all these vehicles travelled 4.5 billion miles.
Joe Biden also said that he will introduce a plan that will help people replace their gas-powered vehicles with electric vehicles, so far, no further details on the plan have been given because the details are still in the process of forming. All in all, this is a big victory for the electric vehicle automakers. Ford is planning to invest 11 billion dollars in the production of its new electric vehicle called “Mustang Mach-E” while General Motors will invest a total of 27 billion dollars on its electric vehicle production line. While Tesla is already in this business and is on top when it comes to electric vehicle production.
